Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced GH¢40 million in seed funding for four emerging public universities, emphasizing government commitment to strengthening tertiary education.

Speaking at C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences’ 5th Congregation in Navrongo, Iddrisu stated: “This government is fully committed to nurturing our young public universities, ensuring they have resources to provide quality education meeting our evolving economy’s demands.”

The funding package targets infrastructure development, research enhancement, and teaching improvements. Beneficiary institutions comprise C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SD-UBIDS).

“This seed funding is a testament to that commitment,” Iddrisu affirmed, positioning the investment as aligning with national development goals. The allocation addresses critical resource gaps in Ghana’s tertiary sector, particularly supporting institutions outside traditional academic centers while advancing specialized education in technology, energy, health, and business development.
