Already in 2014, the police had registered the highest level of the past 15 years, which has risen significantly again, said the report.

The German city of Hamburg and German state of North Rhine-Westphalia accounted for the largest rise, by 20.2 and 18.1 percent respectively.

The German Police Union (DPolG) therefore announced a statement on Wednesday and called for better information-sharing among different German states.

“We urgently need to establish a transnational file processing system, which must be searchable,” said DPolG Chairman Rainer Wendt.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere will officially introduced the criminal statistics in May in Berlin, said the report.

When the statistics presented in 2014, he had already stated that he regarded “with concern” that the cases of home burglary have increased in Germany. Endit
