Neither Chile nor Germany could take control of Group B at the Confederations Cup, but both are sitting in a fantastic position to advance after Thursday. The reigning world champs and South American champs drew 1-1 on Thursday in their second group stage match, with both goals coming in the first half.

The first goal came from Alexis Sanchez of Chile just six minutes in after poor playing out of the back from the Germans.

But Germany bounced back before the half through a fine bit of play on 41 minutes. It was Lars Stindl’s finish in front of goal that drew them level.

And neither could find the winner after that. Both teams had a few good chances, but it was an even match overall and a valuable point for both.

Group B will be decided on Sunday in the final matches of the stage, when Germany plays Cameroon and Chile plays Australia.
