Steinmeier will hold talks with his Mozambican counterpart, Oldemiro Baloi.

He will also be received by President Filipe Nyusi and participate in a business forum in Maputo. The objective of the forum is to grab business opportunities between business people of the two countries.

The German foreign minister, who is to be received by the chairperson of the Mozambican Parliament, the Assembly of the Republic, is accompanied by a group of representatives including parliamentarians, businessmen, academics and artists.

Germany is one of Mozambique’s main development partners, supporting the sectors of education and public service. The European country invests in the sectors of agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructures, banking, tourism and services.

Tours among the two countries have increased in the last few years. Mozambican foreign minister Baloi visited Germany 2009 and 2014, while the former German foreign minister, Guido Westerwelle, toured Mozambique in 2013. Enditem
