Ghanaian Reinhold Yabo awarded by Red Bull Salzburg

Ghanaian midfielder Reinhold Yabo was decorated by the German Football Association for extraordinary sportmanship display while atKarlsruher.

The 23-year-old midfielder won the award for his honesty during Karlsruhe’s play-off tie against Hamburg SV in the Bundesliga.

Karlsruhe were chasing promotion back to the German top-tier division and were going to be awarded a penalty that would have guaranteed their place but Yabo stood out and insisted it was not a penalty, an appeal heeded by the referee.

Yabo was born to Ghanaian parents in Germany but has represented the Germans at various youth levels including winning the 2009UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship.

Yabo is out injury and has not played for Red Bull Salzburg since signing for them this summer.
