The Supreme Court

The Ghana Bar Association(GBA) has warned all lawyers to exercise caution when referring to the supreme court verdict on the 2012 election as well as the nine judges who gave it.

According to a statement released by the association, lawyers who go against this warning, will face the disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council.

GBA argued that a personal attack on the Supreme Court judges without full disclosure of the reasoning behind the verdict was unfair and subjective.

The statement read, ? Indeed it is strange that as the reasons for the judgment of the supreme court has not yet been procured from the court, all manner of reasons have been proffered by some lawyers for the verdict?.

The statement comes days after the Lead counsel for the NDC in the just ended election petition case, Tsatsu Tsikata made comments against Justice Anin Yeboah, saying whatever he said Justice Anin Yeboah was ?factual? and not ?lies?.

In response, GBA reminded ?all lawyers especially lawyers who instructed in the petition before the supreme court to remember that it amounts to misconduct to grant interviews to the media in a matter in which such a person is instructed as counsel?.
