Cites over speeding, dangerous driving, brake failure as factors responsible for the April accidents

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), on Thursday, disclosed that about 59 road accidents were recorded in  Kogi State in April.

The FRSC State Sector Commander, Michael Olapade, who made this known in Lokoja, said that a total of 28 deaths, which included 5 children were recorded.

He said the victims were among the 443 passengers involved in the accidents, adding that the crashes happened in different parts of the state.

Olapade added that the dead included 16 males and 7 females, while 176 others sustained various degree of injuries.

He identified over speeding, dangerous driving, brake failure and human errors as major factors responsible for the accidents, warning motorists to always drive with caution.

The FRSC Commander reported that 990 motorists and Okada riders were also arrested for various traffic offences during the period.

He said out of the number, 665 were made to pay fines and given public enlightenment on the need to be safety conscious.
