Freddie Blay

First National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Freddie Blay seem anxious to see the exit of his immediate boss in order to ascend the position which he never contested.

Mr. Blay who never filed as National Chairman of largest opposition party when nominations were open ahead of its Tamale Congress, has suddenly developed interest for the position and is allegedly scheming behind the scenes to fuel more confusion in the party in order to make the national chairman unpopular.
It was therefore not surprising when he led other national executives to boycott two steering committee meetings in July this year which highly placed sources revealed was to smooth his way to stage his second ?Coup D?etat?

Snippets of information gathered by this paper reveal that Mr. Blay is allegedly championing the collection of more signatures in the northern region to make up the number in order to impeach the National Chairman Mr. Paul Awentami Afoko.

Credible sources revealed that a meeting involving the Northern Regional Women?s Organizer Hajia Amamata, Youth organizer Rashid COP, the Former Regional Chairman Alhaji Haruna Tia and Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu was convened in this regard.

It was therefore not strange that the Women?s Organizer and the Youth Organizer who championed the collection in May this year, are currently on the field taking signatures as a result failed to turn up for a regional executives meeting under flimsy excuses.

Contrary to reports that the northern region had secured 96% signatures to impeach Mr. Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, the latest information gathered shoots down that figure an indication a greater number of constituency executives did not actually buy into the idea.
Our sources revealed that about GHc80, 000 has been devoted for the latest project to ensure that the required numbers of signatures are duly gathered before the arrival of the flagbearer from his trip in the UK.

His arrival in the country is expected to pave the way for his ?boys? to reinitiate moves for the removal of the National Chairman who has vowed to oust ?chop chop? under his watch.
Mr. Afoko?s decision to bring an end to the era of some self-seeking national executives spending party cash to the neglect of its growth at the grassroots has not gone down well with some who still maintain he must go.

Mr. Blay?s whose major interest is to become National Chairman by default regardless of the party?s ultimate aim of winning power in 2016, has allegedly been charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the required numbers of signatures are attained.`

Mr. Blay whose personal interest superseded the collective interest of Convention People?s Party (CPP) as its Parliamentary candidate it would be recalled; plunged the entire party into chaos because the leadership failed to kowtow to his whims and caprices.

He was subsequently tongue-lashed for openly stating that he was willing and ready to sell his mother to retain his seat at Ellembelle a statement many pundits described as self-seeking.

It therefore did not come as a surprise when he mortgaged the seat to the NDC and achieved his ulterior motives of nursing divisions within the ranks of the CPP and to date has affected its electoral fortunes.

The leadership of the CPP reportedly heave a sigh of relief when he announced his resignation to join the party he was allegedly flirting with to create confusion in order to reap its benefits.
