The Ex-National Goalkeepers Union has shortlisted four goalkeepers for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) Goalkeeper of the Month Award for January following commanding displays that strengthened their clubs’ defensive records.
The nominees are Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak SC, Benjamin Kwesi Asiedu of Bechem United, Musah Zakari of FC Samartex 1996, and Rahman Osman of Dreams FC.
Asare kept clean sheets in all three league matches he played during January, helping Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten with two wins and one draw. His performances contributed to the Phobians climbing to third position on the league table despite featuring in fewer matches than the other nominees.
Asiedu registered three clean sheets in four league appearances for Bechem United. He guided his side to three victories with one loss, conceding only two goals across the month.
Zakari maintained a perfect defensive record in January, keeping four clean sheets in four league appearances for FC Samartex 1996. The Timber Giants remained unbeaten with three wins and one draw as they pursue a top four finish.
Osman played the most matches among the nominees, recording three clean sheets from five appearances. The Dreams FC goalkeeper helped his side secure three wins and two draws while conceding just three goals.
The winner will receive a prize package from the Ex-National Goalkeepers Union consisting of a pair of gloves, a branded towel, water bottles, and a T-shirt.
