children suffocate in car

Four children were found dead at Okponglo, a suburb of Accra after suffocating to death in a Citroen Saloon car with registration number GW 9146Q at a ?fitting shop? in the area.

The children aged between the ages of 2 and 12 years included three females and one male.

They are Ernestina Annan, 4 years, Josephine Martey, 4 years, Samira Ibrahim, 7 years and Farouk Ibrahim, 2 years.

Residents in the area say they suspect the children were playing in the vehicle before the untimely death.

In an interview with Citi News, one of the mothers of the four children said the ?fitting shop? was a regular playground for the children.

Another mother also told Citi News, she was asleep when the incident occurred.

She said: ?I was asleep when one child came to knock on my door that my children are dying, we rushed there and noticed that one had was still breathing but when we got to the hospital he was pronounced dead.?

Their bodies have since been deposited at the Legon Hospital Mortuary.

The Legon Police has however commenced investigations into the matter but according to them, the owner of the fitting shop cannot be held accountable for the incident but will be invited to assist in investigation.
