The work of the newly employed ‘foot soldiers’ at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission is to monitor closely the financial records of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Aliyu Jibril Yelwa has said.

He said the staff so deployed would be reading the laws line by line to ensure that the MDAs strictly comply with them.

Speaking while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Students Union in his office, Yelwa said most of the MDAs don’t comply with financial rules and regulations in records keeping.

He said youths have great role to play in the fight against corruption.

The approach adopted by the FRC in handling corruption and mismanagement in the system is corrective instead violent, Yelwa said.

He regarded the deployed staffs as career human capital required to drive the commission.

He said the objective of the commission is to provide for prudent management of the nation’s economy, ensure long term macro economic stability of the nation’s economy and secure greater accountability and transparency in fiscal operations within a medium term fiscal framework.
