56 doctors have already been sent abroad for training

Dr. Achonwa Chiedozie the President, National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD), has disclosed that the Federal Government has resuscitated the post-clinical attachment scheme for medical doctors.

Chiedozie stated that the scheme had resumed with a first batch of 56 doctors to be sponsored for overseas training to build the capacity of Nigerian doctors.

He said overseas clinical attachment was a scheme whereby Nigerian resident doctors were exposed to happenings outside the country to enable them compete with their colleagues abroad.

“This will reduce medical tourism out of the country and save Nigeria millions of naira in foreign exchange that people siphon when they go travel,” he noted.
