BUCHAREST — Some 2,500 people gathered on Sunday for a demonstration near the Cotroceni Presidential Palace to support the ruling coalition, the first pro-government demonstration after anti-government protests had been held for days in Bucharest and across the country.

KABUL — At least 50 people were killed and a dozen others wounded after an avalanche struck a remote village in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nuristan on Sunday, a local official said.
“The natural disaster struck Hafsaa village, Barg-e-Matal district roughly at midday. The initial information found 50 people died and over one dozen wounded,” a provincial source told Xinhua anonymously. (Afghanistan-Avalanche)

TEGUCIGALPA — At least 17 people were killed and another 35 were injured on Sunday when a passenger bus collided with a semitruck in southern Honduras, local media reported.
The crash along the highway connecting the capital Tegucigalpa with the southern part of the country “left at least 17 people dead and 35 injured on Sunday morning,” the daily La Prensa said. (Honduras-Road accident-deaths)

TIRANA — The Chinese embassy in Albania confirmed on Sunday that three Chinese miners were trapped in a chromium mine in the town of Bulqiza, north Albania, and the other Chinese miner got injured after a hydrogen gas explosion there.
