Repeated attacks by a herd of elephants has created fear among residents of several villages in Cote d’Ivoire’s southern regions, Xinhua heard on Sunday.

According to the villagers, the animals which come from the classified Dassiko forest within the zone, have been destroying their crops as well as attacking human beings.
Most farmers have temporarily stopped going to their farms to avoid coming face-to-face with the aggressive animals.
Forestry authorities in the area have blamed human action for the repeated attacks from buffalos and elephants.
“We have witnessed continued destruction of natural habitats of these animals, which are also threatened by poachers. The elephants and buffalos have lost their habitat and are now living outside the park, posing danger for the population,” a forest guard said.
Elephants which represent a symbol for the state of Cote d’Ivoire, are some of the protected species in the country. Enditem
