DETERMINED to tackle the challenge of unemployment in the territory, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to establish a Training and Waiting Centre to take care of the large number of both skilled and unskilled labourers scattered in the nation’s capital.

FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed made this known in Abuja on Tueday during the monthly FCT Operations Briefing Session attended by the FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, Acting FCT Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed, FCDA Executive Secretary, Adamu Ismaila, Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Alhaji Musa Umar Yashi among others.

The minister disclosed that the waiting centre will be constructed to serve as training, retraining and registration centre and serve as a formidable data for references, which can readily assist the authorities as well as the security agents and other organisations who may need their services.

Consequently, the minister also directed the FCT Department of Urban and Regional Planning to within two weeks provide an appropriate plot of land for that purpose in the Abuja Master Plan, just as he further instructed that the FCT Education Secretariat provide the necessary curriculum by liaising with technical departments.

He said the skilled labourers will be well organised to key into the transformation agenda of the Federal Government and the administration’s Roadmap for the FCT.
