The trains are expected to start running in 2015

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Friday, promised to end the transportation challenges in the territory before the end of 2015 with its light rail initiatives.

Minister of the territory, Bala Mohammed, stated this at the signing ceremony of the Abuja light rail project between the FCTA and a Chinese firm in the capital city.

“This is one of the covenants we made with Nigerians through the mandate they gave to President Goodluck Jonathan to transform the territory,” he said.

The project, according to Mohammed, will be in different phases; with the trains and coaches to be deployed on Abuja rails before May 2015.
