Advises school-leavers to start-up businesses

fashola_0The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has harped on the importance of entrepreneurship as a way to improve the Nation.

Speaking at a book launch, titled ‘Goodie Minabo Ibru’, held to mark the 70th birthday of Goodie Ibru, Fashola said: “Nigeria today is in dire need of men with entrepreneurial spirit; those who will build the local capital that will propel us to the prosperity that we all desire.

“The Europeans have gone, and all the capital they built, they have taken away. So if you are a graduate of Business Administration, what

business will you administer if the business has gone? “

Ibru, who turned 70 on Wednesday, is known for his entrepreneurial spirit  and he is currently the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

Fashola, while pointing out Ibru’s achievements, urged Nigerians to imbibe such a spirit . According to him, the fact that there were more job seekers in the country than capital builders, highlighted the negative impact lack of entrepreneurial spirit  had on the economy.

He urged school leavers and University graduates to strive towards starting and setting up industries rather than jumping into an already saturated labour market.
