The Nii Kwei Aku Family of Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region has petitioned the Greater Accra Regional Minister over what it describes as a growing security threat linked to land ownership disputes at Bortianor.

In a petition dated August 16, 2024, and sighted by this outlet, the family, acting through its solicitor Morganbauers Y.E.S (Legal, HR and Corporate Advisory), accused one Frederick Adjei Brown of unlawfully claiming ownership of portions of Bortianor lands.

According to the petition, the Nii Kwei Aku Family, under the Ngleshie Customary Area of James Town, is the allodial title holder of the Bortianor lands and holds “unfettered rights” to alienate or grant interests in the said land.

The family insists it has never sold, leased, or transferred any portion of the land to Frederick Adjei Brown, describing his recent claims as false and misleading.

The petition further alleges that Mr. Adjei Brown has resorted to what it termed “unconventional means,” including the involvement of the police, to harass and intimidate members of the family and their lessees—an action the family believes poses a serious security threat to peace and stability in the area.

> “Suffice it to say that the said Frederick Adjei Brown has resorted to using unconventional means as well as the Police to harass and intimidate My Client and their lessees and same creates a security threat,” portions of the petition read.

The family is therefore calling on the Greater Accra Regional Minister to intervene urgently to restore calm and prevent any potential breakdown of law and order at Bortianor.

Meanwhile, copies of related correspondence have also been addressed to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, and the Weija Divisional Police Command, indicating the seriousness of the concerns raised.

The petition concludes with a request for the matter to be treated with the “needed attention and dispatch” in the interest of justice and public peace.

As of the time of filing this report, Frederick Adjei Brown has not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the petition.
