Management of Excellent Leadership Awards Group (ExLA Group), an NGO in leadership has launched its 5th awards ceremony slated for July 30 in Accra.

ExLA GroupThe awards is dedicated to inspire quality and transformational leadership across all facets of national life with emphasis on the empowerment of the youth for active corporate, entrepreneurship and leadership life.

Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo, Chairperson of ExLA Group Board said the group was instituted in April 2011 to identify and award individual and institutions who have distinguished themselves in various field of endeavors.

Prof Ampofo said there is an awards board which determines the various categories and considers various personalities for nominations, where award winners are selected through collaborative efforts of both the panel and the public.

She said the scope of the awards is multidimensional and includes platinum gold award, women empowerment, Komla Dumor Journalism award, peace award, arts and entertainment award, youth development, sports, distinction, humanitarian services and pragmatic personality in academia award, transformational leadership award and strategic entrepreneur award.

She said management has added two new categorise for this year?s award distinguished traditional leader award and young achievers award as well as two awards for institutions or corporate bodies.

Mr Daniel Osei Tuffuor, Executive Director of ExLA Group noted that a strong and clear leadership is critical in inspiring people and achieving positive developmental changes globally and that effective leadership borders on a wide range of issues revealed through a strong drive for results as well as technical and professional excellence.

?Leadership is the most essential determinant of societal development, it determines the growth pattern of every nation stressing that once there is good leadership, there will be good governance and that would guarantee development?, he added.

Mr Tuffuor said since January 2011, the group has successfully initiated and implemented 19 programmes and projects including four awards and a community excellence awards in Tamale.

The group has trained 1,500 young people through its executive training programme and leadership conferences, and 500 people in the formal sector have also gone through corporate training and preparation for post-retirement life programmes.

He said the group would roll out its new programmes -ExLA Group Agricultural Programme and the ExLA Group Entrepreneurship Programmes by the first quarter of 2016.

Mr John Osei Tutu Agyeman, General Manager of e.TV urged the young generation to be assertive, creative and innovative and come out with new ideas to face future challenges.
