Former Miss California Carrie Prejean Boller has publicly accused President Donald Trump of betraying his most loyal supporters, publishing a scathing open letter on Thursday after receiving a formal termination notice from the White House confirming her removal from the Religious Liberty Commission.

Prejean Boller, 38, was sacked from the commission, which sits under the Department of Justice (DOJ), following a contentious hearing on antisemitism on February 9, 2026. Commission chairman and Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced her removal on February 11, saying she had used the hearing to advance her own agenda rather than the commission’s mandate. A formal letter from the Presidential Personnel Office, signed by a representative of President Trump, was communicated to Boller on Thursday, March 12, officially terminating her appointment.

During the February hearing, Prejean Boller clashed repeatedly with Jewish witnesses, including rabbis and university students who gave testimony about antisemitism following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. She questioned whether anti-Zionism constitutes antisemitism, wore a pin bearing the American and Palestinian flags, and defended conservative commentators Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson against antisemitism allegations. She also pressed Jewish witnesses to condemn Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

In her open letter to Trump published on Thursday, Prejean Boller argued that the president was surrounded by what she called “heretics” who placed loyalty to Israel above American interests. She drew a direct comparison to 2009, when Trump, who then owned the Miss USA pageant, publicly defended her right to express her belief that marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman, allowing her to retain her crown despite widespread backlash.

“I have not changed one bit since the day you stood beside me in 2009. That is why it is so shocking to now be removed from a Religious Liberty Commission for doing the very same thing you once defended,” she wrote.

Prejean Boller also accused Paula White, the Special Adviser to the White House Faith Office, of orchestrating what she called a “witch hunt” against her and attempting to restrict her from posting about Israel and Gaza on social media.

She went further by criticising Trump for what she described as abandoning non-interventionist principles, referencing US and Israeli military operations in Iran, which began on February 28, 2026, and have since cost the lives of seven American service members. “The MAGA I knew would never allow American troops to die for a foreign government,” she wrote.

The mother of two said her Catholic faith compelled her to speak out. “My Christian faith does not allow me to ignore human suffering while the United States and my tax dollars are paying for it,” she said. She closed her letter by saying she would pray for Trump’s salvation.

Trump created the White House Religious Liberty Commission in May 2025 to advise on religious freedom policy. Its removal of Prejean Boller drew praise from some Jewish groups and conservatives, and has also prompted the sole Muslim woman on the commission’s advisory board, Sameerah Munshi, to announce her resignation in protest.
