WARSAW, May 18 (Xinhua/GNA) — Everything that is directly related to organizing Euro 2012 football championship is ready, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Sports Minister Joanna Mucha reported to Donald Tusk Poland’s operational readiness for Euro 2012.

Later the PM went to Poznan in a helicopter with Transport Minister Slawomir Nowak to examine facilities connected with the football tournament.

He visited a new air terminal at the Poznan-Lawica airport. At a conference organized there he said that from the very beginning he had regarded air terminals a crucial part of the preparations as most fans will choose air transport.

“Air infrastructure gaps in Poland have been very serious, comparable to problems with the roads. I am glad to see one of those terminals, practically ready,” the government head stressed.

Tusk admitted that not all investments planned for Euro 2012 had been completed. “We have started everything virtually from scratch and therefore the size of the task was too much for some people, but the end result is that Poles can be truly proud of what has been achieved,” the prime minister said.

The prime minister said there were chances that the A2 motorway that links western Poland with its capital would be operational before or during the tournament.

The government has received no signals indicating a rise in terrorist threat during Euro 2012 while Poland is getting prepared for all scenarios, commented he.

Euro 2012, to take place from June 8 to July 1, 2012, will be co-hosted by the two countries’ eight cities. The matches will be played in Poland’s Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk and Ukraine’s Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov and Donetsk.
