EU representative in Bissau Victor Madeira dos Santos said his organization will help the country “to reposition itself on the development path” by supporting numerous reform processes in the public sector.

The diplomat said the reforms will mainly concentrate in sectors defined by Guinea Bissau authorities such as the judiciary, defense and security, public administration, health as well as education.

Dos Santos who was speaking after a meeting with members of Guinea Bissau’s new government, said EU was currently holding preliminary talks with the country to determine the needed aid.

Elsewhere, CPLP representative Antonio Pedro Lopes said his organization will support training programs for Guinea Bissau civil servants under the framework of the reform program.

He was speaking after meeting with Guinea Bissau’s Prime Minister Carlos Correia.

Correia, after being sworn in, identified professional training as one of the key priorities of his government.
Lopes equally announced that CPLP will provide support in the public health sector, especially for women and children. Enditem
