Eto?o celebrate with team mates after scoring a goal

A hat-trick by Cameroonian international Samuel Eto?o handed Chelsea a convincing 3-1 win over Manchester United in a Barclays Premiership match at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

United certainly started the better of the two teams and dominated the early exchanges.

The Red Devils were able to create their first chance on goal as early as the second minute after Ashley Young brought the best out of Petr Cech.

United continued to control the possession stakes, but struggled to breach a well-organised Chelsea defence.

Instead, it was at the other end where we the game?s first goal came, with Eto?o finding the back of the net in the 17th minute.

It was a great solo goal as the Cameroon international broke down the right wing before cutting infield, beating one defender and firing the ball into the back of the net, his shot deflecting off Michael Carrick and beating David De Gea.

Chelsea dealt United another blow, very much against the run of play, in the dying seconds of the half as Eto?o found his second goal of the match, turning home a low cross from Gary Cahill.

The result was put beyond doubt four minutes after the break as Eto?o grabbed his third goal of the game.

The Cameroonian was quickest to react after De Dea made an initial save to stop a Cahill header, but Eto?o pounced on the loose ball to make it 3-0.

The Red Devils did find a consolation goal through Javier Hernandez in the 78th minute, turning home a misguided shot from Phil Jones at close range.

United?s disappointing afternoon was capped off when Nemanja Vidic received a straight red card for a horrible tackle on Eden Hazard in the 91st minute.
