Aklile Belete, General Manager of Shak Crux Trade and Event Management Plc, organizer of the event, told reporters on Friday that the exhibition plays important role in promoting the manufacturing sector and the conducive investment environment in Ethiopia.

The exhibition is expected to provide opportunity for local and foreign companies to create business networks and share experiences while contributing to technology transfer in the sectors.

The four-day exhibition creates platforms for business-to-business meetings and discussions, which in turn provides good opportunities for local investors to explore export markets, he said.

The event also includes conference and visits to industrial villages, business centers, and historical sites in Addis Ababa, according to the General Manager.

The expo, which is the second in its kind, will be attended by exhibiting companies from China, Egypt, India, Kenya, and Sudan among others, of which majority are Egyptian companies, noted the General Manager.

Speaking during the press briefing, Waleed El Zomor, Commercial Counsellor at the Egyptian Embassy in Ethiopia, said a big number of Egyptian companies will be participating in the exhibition seeking not only to sell products but also towards well-established business ties with Ethiopian counterparts and others.

“The companies that participated last year (in the exhibition) will participate this year. We don’t want to sell and go back; we want to establish the business here; they (the Egyptian companies) want to establish relationship with Ethiopian business men,” said the Commercial Counsellor. Enditem
