The Ethiopian Sugar Corporation on Saturday announced Ethiopia’s plan to export 10,000 tons of sugar to neighboring country Kenya.

Endawek Abtie, Ethiopian Sugar Corporation CEO, told members of the Ethiopian parliament on Saturday that the east African country has made an agreement with Kenya over the exports.

The country, since 2010/2011, has aimed to meet its domestic demand and export the surplus sugar product, by targeting mainly neighboring east African countries.

The east African nation has inaugurated four sugar factories this fiscal year. Including the already operational four factories, the country expects its sugar production to reach an aggregate of seven million quintals of sugar production annually. Enditem
