Employers have been asked to focus priority on upgrading of the skills and competence of their employees through regular in-service training.

This was contained in a communique issued by the Professional Secretaries Association of Ghana (PROSAG) at the end of a five-day training programme held to mark this year’s International Secretaries Week in Koforidua.

The event was under the theme “Secretaries: empowerment for organizational development”.

The communique, signed by the National President, Ms. Rosemary Nhyira Ackaah, said staff training must be seen as vital to increased productivity.

It was the way forward to promote strong work ethics – positive work attitudes.

The Association underlined its determination to run training programmes for its members for optimal performance.

Mr. Kozie Sambo, the Eastern Regional Coordinating Director, advised the secretaries to take steps to improve their professional skills, knowledge and capacity for career progression.

The five-day training programme involved minutes and report writing, correspondence drafting, introduction to Microsoft and excel, internet usage, career development and management, and human relations.
