Kano

The Kano Emirate Council on Sunday conducted a special prayer for the sustenance of peace in Kano and the country at large. The prayer, which was held at the Kano Central Mosque, was led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof Sani Zaharaddeen.

The prayer was attended by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, members of the Emirate Council and other traditional rulers from the 44 local government areas of the state.

The Chief Imam who prayed God to prevent future occurrence, urged the people of the state to continue to pray for peace in the state. After the prayer, the Emir was escorted to Malam Aminu Kano International Airport where he boarded an aircraft on his way to United Kingdom.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after his departure, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Kano Emirate Council, Tijjani Sanka, said the Emir had planned to travel to UK even before Saturday?s incident.

According to him, the Emir will undergo his routine medical check up while in the United Kingdom. The Emir was accompanied on the trip by the District Head of Nasarawa, Alhaji Nasiru Bayero and the Ciroma of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Bayero both of whom sustained injuries during the attack on the Emir?s convoy on Saturday.
