The decomposed body in the grave

Elmina, a fishing community in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region, was thrown into a state of mourning on Saturday when news broke out that the graves of some twins who were killed in a fatal accident at Antaado on December 30, 20113, had been tampered with by grave diggers.

The twins, Patricia Simon and Patrina Simon, 20 years old, were involved in an accident which claimed 15 lives last December in the area.

The accident happened some few months after the two had just completed Eguafo Senior High School and had been sent by their pastor to go and deposit some amount of money into his account at a bank in Takoradi.

According to information, family members had a call on Saturday around 7:30 am that some grave diggers had gone to dig the graves of the twins at the Elmina Cemetery, severed their right hands and blotted away ? a piece of information which compelled them to go to the scene.

When DAILY GUIDE got to the scene, it was observed that the bodies had been placed on the ground while their right hands had been chopped off.

Most of the people who trooped to the cemetery wept uncontrollably, looking at the circumstance leading to their death and how the unknown grave diggers had also treated their mortal remains.

Some family members performed some rituals at the cemetery and re-buried the remains of the twins.

The matter had been reported to the KEEA Municipal Police Command while investigations were ongoing.
