Former Personal Assistant to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Bodunde Adeyanju has declared his intention to contest the 2014 governorship race in Ekiti State.


Adeyanju who made the declaration when he paid an unscheduled visit to his home ward, however said his first agenda was to seek reconciliation of key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The aspirant who was accompanied on the visit by some key party stalwarts in the state among whom is Ogundoro Steven from Emure, Chief Olufemi Olaleye from Ikole and the Director General of Bodunde Campaign Organisation, Segun Asubiojo from Ido Ile, advised all members of the party in the state to bury the hatchet and be united to face the challenges ahead.

In his address, Adeyanju urged the Chairman of the ward to go out and bring back all the aggrieved members in the ward, because according to him, there is strength in unity.

He stressed that those who think that Ado Ekiti indigenes cannot be governor in the state should have a rethink and knows that, despite that only Ibadan indigenes have been producing governors in Oyo State, but Alao Akala from Ogbomosho broke the jinx when he became governor.

According to him, he was coming to the ward to declare his ambition as an impetuous for members of the ward to go out there and bring more people into the PDP, adding that his declaration in the state will soon follow, in line with the party?s way of doing things.

He said the PDP is the only party not owned by individual, adding that the All progressives Congress (APC) is not a threat to the PDP, noting that things will soon get better in the largest party in Africa.

Adeyanju assured the people that his working with Obasanjo for over 20 years has given him a lot of experiences and advantage over others who has no idea about governance.
