The lifestyles of 91,427 pregnant women in Denmark were analysed for the study

About 25 pregnant women lost their lives from child birth from January to July this year at Kyenkyenkura community in the Ejura municipality of the Ashanti region. The community which is about 15kms away from the municipal capital has hijacked one of the limited classrooms in the community as a health center with on one health assistant serving about 15 communities. The center has two beds 25 bottles of drugs used on all kind of patients.
The principal head assistant who also dabbles as the doctor Madam Afia Boandwo described the rate at which the deaths occurs as “scary” and calls for urgent attention. She explained that most of these women dies due to lack medicines to stop bleeding and pains, insufficient beds, and the bad nature of drugs. She added that, some of the women would have to lie on the floor during child delivery. Madam Afia continued that, pregnant women have to be transported through tricycles, motorbikes and bicycles from their various communities to the center. Serious and emergency cases are mostly refer to the municipal hospital which ambulance system is not working on that route due to poor road networks.
Pregnant women in all the over 16 communities have now decided not to seek health care from the lacking center.They say “we are going to depend on God and our old women”
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament of the area Hon. Mohammed Salisu Bamba has accused the Municipal Health Director Mr. Eric Sarpong for contributing to the excruciating situation in the communities. He alleged that he was summarily stopped from building a CHIPS COMPOUND which was abundance by his predecessor and the NDC government. The legislator said just as when he had started the project, the health director told him to leave the project with immediate effect and that “it was an order from above”. He believes the intervention was political.
Mr. sarpong has denied the allegation saying he has no authority to stop the MP.
The said CHIPS COMPOUND was started by the former NDC MP, he spent about GH82,000,00 on the project. He has been accused of financial mismanagement.
