Minister of Education, Mr. Lee Ocran, has underscored the importance of enhancing the training of personnel who provide the necessary professional skills to foster educational development.

He said a number of initiatives have started for school leadership development with the emphasis on the development the technical competence of school-based managers in an atmosphere that deepens the holistic development of children.

Mr. Ocran made this known in a speech read on his behalf at the opening of Exam Ethics Marshal International (EEMI) Conference and Awards in Accra on Tuesday.

He said the growing decentralisation process offers the country the opportunity to develop school leaders with the necessary skills to ensure that they are effective managers who embody technical, human relations and conceptual skills to work perfectly.

The conference is on the theme: ?Imperative Leadership, Management and Administrative Best Practices for Educational Institutions to Rank among the Best in the World,? will bring together administrators of education, governing councils and deans and heads of department of tertiary institution.

It was organised by Exam Ethics International Ghana (EEIG) in collaboration with Ghana Education Service and aims at promoting best practices in education in terms of infrastructure, learning and teaching process, content of syllables, best management practices, examinations and assessment, and monitoring and evaluation.

Country Director of EEIG, Mr. Ashiboe-Mensah, said education thrives on interconnectivity of ideas, actions and processes and can only be transformed when each stakeholder take actions at his or her station, sphere of operational and leadership influence to promote best practices.

He said one of the cardinal initiatives of EEMI is the identification, recognition and celebration of individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to best practices in education.

Mr. Ashiboe-Mensah said EEIG had been active since its inauguration in 2008 in terms of engagement of educational stakeholders to work together to improve educational system, dissemination of information relating to best practices in education, monitoring the conduct of public examinations, providing training for examination administrators and inauguration of Exam Ethics Clubs in schools.
