Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and Deputy Communications Minister Mohammed Adams Sukparu are in stable condition after a road accident on the Bolgatanga to Tumu Road on Thursday morning.

The two government officials and members of their convoy were travelling to the Upper West Region for official duties when the incident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

According to a statement signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Education Minister, all occupants of the convoy sustained no life threatening injuries and are receiving medical care at an undisclosed facility.

The ministers were en route to Tumu to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the crash took place on the Bolgatanga to Tumu Road.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that all members of the travelling delegation are safe and under medical observation. Details regarding the cause of the accident or the extent of injuries remain unavailable at the time of publication.

Both ministers hold cabinet positions in the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, who was inaugurated in January 2025 following the November 2024 elections.

The Bolgatanga to Tumu Road connects the Upper East Region to the Upper West Region and serves as a major transport corridor for government officials and commercial traffic in northern Ghana.
