Education Director Charge Female Students To Study Harder
Independence Female

Madam Mary Asunta, the Nadowli-Kaleo District Director of Education, has called on students, especially females, to attend to their studies with seriousness in order to excel in their academic pursuits.

She said though the district has not rewarded hardworking teachers for the past two years, the performance in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has improved consistently over the years.

However, she expressed worry that the performance of female students has not been encouraging adding that stakeholders have planned to hold a consultative meeting soon to deliberate over the matter.

Madam Asunta was speaking during the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary at Nadowli in the Nadowli-Kaleo District.

She expressed gratitude to teachers in the district and applauded them for their hard work which has led to an increase in the performance of students in the Junior High Schools in the BECE.

Madam Asunta said despite the good academic performance recorded in the BECE, female students were performing poorly in the district and that it was time to reverse the trend.

She urged the girls to avoid premarital sex as this would truncate their education and ambitions in life.

Madam Asunta urged girls to look out for eminent women who have made great strides in education as their role models.
