Two police personnel were injured on Monday in a blast in the Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost, police said. “An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off in the front gate of provincial council office in provincial capital Khost city, causing two policemen wounded,” General Faizullah Ghirat, provincial police chief, told Xinhua.
The explosion, which took place at around 07:45 a.m. (local time), also damaged the building.
The injured were shifted to a hospital, the police chief said, adding that police cordoned off the area for investigations.
Furthermore, security forces killed four militants in addition to seizing weapons following a cleanup operation in Day Mirdad district in eastern Wardak province overnight Sunday, the provincial government said in a statement earlier on Monday.
The Taliban militant group has intensified attacks since they launched an annual spring offensive on Friday. Enditem
