Crisis is looming as indications emerged yesterday that the winner of the All Progressives Party (APC) primary election conducted in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 in Ekiti State, Dr. Eniola Ajayi, may still lose her ticket to another aspirant, Sunday Ibitoye who contested alongside with her and lost.
Sources revealed that the ticket may be withdrawn from her for Ibitoye who happened to be former council chairman in Ado Ekiti local Government on grounds that she hails from the same local government area as the APC senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central, Gbenga Olofin.
A source from the Party insisted that it was proper to withdraw the ticket from her for Ibitoye since Olofin and Ajayi are from the same Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, “somebody from Ado-Ekiti, the other council area in the federal constituency, should be allowed to fly the party’s flag at next year’s National Assembly polls,” the source said.
Ajayi meanwhile has urged her supporters to remain calm over alleged plans to withdraw the ticket from her.
She has also appealed to the leaders of the party not to succumb to pressures in some quarters to substitute her with another aspirant that did not emerge from the primary election conducted in the constituency.
Already, supporters of the two groups are protesting   as Dr. Ajayi’s supporters are spoiling for a showdown.
Equally, the supporters of the former council chairman who came third in the primary want the ticket withdrawn from Dr. Ajayi.

At the primary conducted on Sunday, Dr. Ajayi polled 262 votes beating the State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Mr. Churchill Adedipe who polled 193 votes to the second position, while Ibitoye got 192 votes, Mr. Adewole Ajakaiye obtained 66 votes and Dr. Ogunsakin came last with 54 votes.
Dr. Ajayi  in a chat with journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday : “I want to appeal to my supporters to remain calm on the rumor making the rounds that the ticket I won will be given to another person. The primary election was free and fair and  I am in possession of the valid result from the primary.?
But in his reaction, Ibitoye denied knowledge of any plan to snatch Dr. Ajayi’s ticket but admitted that the party has a way of distributing offices and positions adding that, “I am not aware of it, there is a way we distribute positions in the party but the decision rests with the party.
“Ado-Ekiti happens to be the largest community in the federal constituency, I am not aware of that plan all I can say is that it is the party that knows the right thing to do in this situation.?
