Refugees from Democratic Republic of the Congo in Lôvua municipality, Angola’s Lunda Norte province received on Wednesday 10 tonnes of foodstuff.

The donation made by the Association of Angolan Ex-Emigrants in the Democratic Republic of Congo, includes soda, clothing, footwear, detergents, rice, oil, pasta, salt and other goods for personal hygiene.

Local director of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Wilsom Palanca, praised the humanitarian gesture, stressing that the donated goods will contribute to solve some of the difficulties of refugees and their families.

According to UNHCR data revealed in May, more than 20,000 DR Congo refugees have arrived in Angola, fleeing insecurity and violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kasai region since early April. Enditem
