Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the running mate to the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party, was the 152nd person to cast his vote at 09.44 hours at the Kperiga D/A Primary School Polling Station ‘A’ in the Walewale Constituency of the Northern Region.

Dr Bawumia expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise so far, and remarked that “God will bring smiles on the faces of the NPP by the end of the day”.

He advised the people to comport themselves and refrain from engaging in any acts that would disturb the peace in the country.

He was accompanied by his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia who voted at the Kperiga D/A Primary School Polling Station ‘B’ in the same constituency.

The Regional Minister, Mr Abdallah Abubakar, who is also the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Walewale Constituency is expected to cast his vote there later in the day.

At the Walewale Cotton Office Polling Station, 71 people had voted as at 08.45 hours. The Presiding Officer Ali Abdul Mumin told the Ghana News Agency that the Verification machine had earlier rejected three voters, who were eventually verified manually.

The queues are growing longer at all polling centres in the Constituency as the day wears on.

A total of 15,712,499 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots at 28,992 Polling Stations in 275 constituencies across the country in Wednesday’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
