The Palestinian Foreign Affairs Ministry has have condemned the ‘Israeli encroachment and other illegal measures’ being undertaken in Jerusalem.

A statement issued on Friday by Embassy of the State of Palestine and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the procedures close the door to the possibility of a viable and sovereign Palestinian State.

The statement said the Israeli Occupation Authorities continue to install more high-resolution cameras in alleys and streets of the occupied Jerusalem as they impose strict security measures and restrictions on the movement of the Jerusalemites.

It said: “The Ministry also sees in practical terms what the Israeli Prime Minster, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu said during his recent visit to London on the concept of sovereignty, which is consistent with the Israeli interest of absolutely rejecting peace and all forms of negotiations”.

The statement said Mr Natanyahu’s statement and his field actions were evident in the absence of an Israeli committed peace partner and represented a new Israeli declaration of refusal to negotiate in accordance with clear international rules and references.

“At the same time, it embodies an Israeli intention to thwart international and American efforts to resume the negotiations.

The fact remains that, the Israeli side is negotiating with itself and going to resolve the final status issues unilaterally with the force of the occupation,” it said.

It said the Israeli Occupation Authorities were continuing with procedures and operations aimed at deepening settlements and imposing further collective punishments and abuse on the Palestinian citizens.

The statement said: “The Civil Administration of the West bank (Judea and Samaria) has detailed a master plan to expand the settlement of ‘Ma’ale Adunim’ at the expense of the citizens’ lands in ‘Al’Eizaariya’ covering an area of 53 acres for the construction of more than 104 new settlement units.”
