Don’t Quit Politics-cleric Tells Gov. Obi
The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev. Dr. Hilary Odili Okeke has appealed to Governor Peter Obi not to quit politics against the Governors proclamation that he was done with politics.??The cleric said the entire people of Anambra State, Igbos and Nigerians pray that people like him should have the opportunity of serving Nigerians at the centre in view of his exceptional performance in Anambra State.??Bishop Okeke said this yesterday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala shortly after he received the cheque of N100million Naira for ongoing projects at the Hospital, as well as another cheque of N30 million for the Maternity and Childcare complex at Azigbo.
unnamedThe cleric commended the Governor for his commitment to projects that impact directly on the lives of the people, noting that people of the State would forever remain grateful to him for touching their lives in special ways.??Bishop Okeke said the hospital had??benefited a lot from the Obi administration as his support had repositioned the hospital and provided conducive environment for efficient healthcare delivery while he observed doubled the number of patients seeking healthcare daily.
In his remarks, Governor Obi reinstated the determination of his administration to upgrade the hospital to first class health facility that would become a reference point in the country and beyond.??He thanked the Church for assisting the State to achieve its vision on MDGs and for prudent and efficient use of funds released to them to deliver the set goals.
While handing over the N30 million Cheque for the maternity project, Governor Obi says the State Government had provided in full the N300 Million Naira needed to build and equip the on-going ten ultra modern maternity and child care centres in the rural areas.??Governor Obi assured that the maternity and child care centre would be completed on schedule and according to specifications to bring quality health services near to the people.?
He explained that the projects were spread to rural communities where they were needed in line with the policy of his administration to uphold equity and fairness in the distribution of democracy dividends.
?The Governor also announced that government would within the next one month extend more interventions to primary and secondary schools in the area.
The President of the Customary Court of Appeal and an indigene of the area, Justice Samuel Okoye recalled that Governor Obi?s administration was the first to construct a tarred road and provide a water facility among other projects in the community.??Justice Okoye noted that the Governor has continued to demonstrate commitment and sacrifice in promoting the welfare of the people.
