Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has urged Ghanaians, especially Christians, to be confident and remain steadfast that God, through Christ, would see them through the coming year, regardless of their challenges.

“People visit some so-called prophets for them to foretell what the future holds as far as the coming year is concerned. Some Christians tend to be panicky about the coming year – dreams become important, foretelling becomes a desire.

“The fear that drives people to seek such help ends up making them “slaves” to false prophets, fetishes, Mallams and their demands,” he said.

These were contained in a Christmas and New Year Message, copied to the Ghana News Agency, on Wednesday, in Accra.

“As we celebrate Christmas and look forward to a new year, I wish to remind you that the birth of Jesus and our acceptance of his Lordship have brought us deliverance from our enemies,” he said.

“All we need now is to fear the Lord and a generational blessing is guaranteed. We need to move confidently into the coming year knowing that those who fear him lack nothing”.

Apostle Nyamekye advised Christians to walk in the fear of God and not to be afraid of the future as was declared by Mary the mother of Jesus Christ in the books of Luke that the mercy of God extended to those who feared him, from generation to generation.

He gave the assurance that Jesus was born to save the world from the evil one and from those who hated the Lord, saying that he had been merciful to the past generations by remembering his sacred covenants to them.

The birth of Christ, he explained, bestowed on the world blessings and joy as the world prepared to welcome the New Year.

Making reference to King David, the Apostle quoted him as saying, “The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them…His eyes are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love….
“David further teaches that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Such people will lack nothing”.
