Dr Kwabena Donkor promised to resign at the end of 2015, if he fails to solve the 4-year power crisis.

He however honoured his promise by tendering in his resignation letter on Thursday, December 31, 2015 as the crisis still persists.

In a statement “President John Mahama accepted the resignation of Dr Kwabena Donkor (MP) as Minister of Power”.

“The President thanked him for his services as the pioneer Minister for the Ministry of Power which was carved out of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum,” the statement added.

This however honoured the pledge by the President who also promised to hold the Minister to it if he fails to end the power crisis by the end of 2015.

The President has also stated in his New Year message to the people of Ghana that, each and every member of his government will uphold the promises that have been made to the people whose interest they serve.

“Those who fall short of that commitment have been and will continue to be asked to tender their resignation and relieved of their responsibilities.” he warned.
