Obuama, a serene village-town in Degema local government area of Rivers state, was agog on Saturday as thousands of people from different parts of the country gathered to mark the 50th Birthday anniversary of ex-Niger Delta? militant leader and Alabo Edi Abali of Kalabari, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari.

The event, which was attended by representatives of various minority groups under the auspices of Swing Nationalities of Nigeria (SNN), witnessed the presentation of speeches, music performances, masquerade displays, tributes, solidarity messages, songs and Marshall Art, as well as traditional wrestling contests.

Highlights of the celebration included the cutting of 50th Birthday cake, a moving speech by the celebrant (full text of which will be published in subsequent edition) and presentation of gifts, with the Benue State chapter of SNN dressing Alhaji Dokubo-Asari in the famous Tiv/Idoma traditional attire.
