Following the emergence of General Mohammadu Buhari as the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the National Youth Leader of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Abubakar Maikudi has said that irrespective of the distractive strategies and propaganda embarked upon by the ruling PDP in their campaign, Buhari would win the 2015 presidential election just like the former American president Abraham Lincoln won the 1860 election having contested steadily eight times in different elections.
Maikudi who said this during a chat with journalists in Abuja yesterday, noted that the APC presidential candidate has all the qualities required of a good leader who can bring about the desired change Nigerians have been yearning for.
While congratulating Buhari for his victory at the party?s primaries, commended other aspirants for their display of sportsmanship describing them as true democrats who have set the pace for other politicians and the younger generations in the development of democracy in Nigeria.
The former youth leader urged all Nigerians across every divide to accept Buahari and Yemi Osibanjo candidature as agents of positive change and to rally massive support to ensure they are voted president come February, 2015.
?Their candidacy is a crop of credible, capable and honest personalities with unique leadership qualities that can change the fortunes of Nigerians for the better and restore the country to the path of dignity amongst comity of nations,? he added.
He said that the situation which the country presently found itself should be a cause of concern to every goodhearted and patriotic citizen hence the need to vote for APC being the party that can salvage the country from the seeming brims of collapse.
He alleged that the PDP used religion and ethnicity in its campaign thereby sowing seeds of discord amongst citizenry, urging Nigerians especially the electorate not to allow themselves to be deceived by the ruling party?s campaign of calumny.
Speaking further, he advised the APC to continue their campaign in a their usual peaceful manner urging them to avoid provocative remarks as being the pattern the ruling party has chosen.
He argued that across the globe especially in the developed economies, no political party no matter how powerful its ideas and agenda, is allowed to govern a country beyond two terms in office; as electorate also give other political parties the opportunity to prove to citizens what their party can do for the country citing America, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, etc.
?The time for change has come, let us not be deceived again! Let us embrace that change now for the betterment of our dear country and men? he advised.
