Yenagoa – Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, has signed the revised 2012 budget of N238 billion into law. At a brief ceremony at Government House, Yenagoa, Dickson, said the new budget will make way for massive construction work in the various sectors of the state.

Dickson had withdrawn an earlier budget proposal sent to the Assembly by the immediate past administration to give way for the new budget.

A proposal of about N217bn was forwarded to the Assembly on April 23, this year for consideration, a process that took the House, 23 days to pass.

Dickson thanked the Speaker, Mr. Kombowei Benson and the House for the speedy passage of the Appropriation Bill.
He said the journey of restoration had commenced with the signing of the budget into law and called on the lawmakers to join in the process of rebuilding the state.

The governor said massive construction work would soon commence, having done all the preliminary activities preparatory to awards of contracts, adding  that funds had been set aside for the infrastructural development of the state.
