Minister for Works, Dr John Magufuli made the remarks in Parliament, when responding to a supplementary question from Mr Moses Machali (Kasulu Urban-NCCR-Mageuzi).

Mr Machali wanted to know if the government is certain that Abu Dhabi Fund?will release funds for construction of Uvinza ? Malagarasi road.

Dr Magufuli said international development partners supporting the road sector have been forthcoming, noting that out of more than 200bn/- already 194bn/- have been released in this financial year 2014/15.

?I want to assure you that the Abu Dhabi Fund will release the money for construction of the Uvinza -Malagarasi 51.1km road to tarmac level.

The Abu Dhabi Fund has also funded the upgrading of Kidanwe ? Uvinza (76.6kms) to tarmac level, so we have confidence in them,? he explained.

He said the upgrade designs for the Uvinza ? Malagarasi road have already been sent to the Abu Dhabi government, expressing optimism that the funds will be released on time.

Responding to the basic question, Deputy Minister for Works, Eng Gerson Lwenge said construction of the Uvinza ? Malagarasi road to tarmac levels is expected to start in the 2015/2016 financial year.

He said the government is currently following up on funds for the construction of the road from Abu Dhabi Fund, which had promised to fund the upgrading of the Uvinza ? Malagarasi road to tarmac level.

The basic question from Mr David Kafulila (Kigoma South-NCCR-Mageuzi) asked on his behalf by Mr Machali, sought to know when construction of the Uvinza ? Malagarasi would start.
