The police in Delta state have arrest­ed a four-member armed robbery gang which specialized in seizing exotic cars from their owners at gunpoint.
The three persons, Uche Otiono, Vincent Uche, Obinna Matthew and Paul Egwom , all of Akwofu area, Asaba, according to the police, were nabbed after members of the pub­lic gave them information about the activities of the gang.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Celes­tina Kalu, said that three exotic cars were recovered from the suspected crimi­nals that have been ter­rorising residents of the capital city.
?On December 21, 2014, operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Asaba, acting on a tip-off arrested one Uche Otiono ?m?, Vincent Uche ?m?, Obinna Matthew ?m? and Paul Egwom ?m?, all of Akwofu area Asaba, as suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate terrorising the Asaba axis.
?Items recovered from them include one Lexus Rx300 Jeep with registra­tion number AAA 799 DH, one Lexus RX350 Jeep with registration number AAA 571 CY and one Toyota Camry car with registra­tion number AKD 676 DF??, Kalu said.
Kalu added that the sus­pects have confessed that they snatched one of the Lexus Jeeps from its own­er at Bonsac area, Asaba, about two months ago.
She said that efforts were on to trace the owners of the recovered vehicles, while the suspects were undergoing investigation.??
