Ghana?s mildfielder, Andre Dede Ayew has missed the final cut as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the top three candidates for this year?s African player of the year December 5, 2012.

CAF on November 23, 2012 unveiled an initial five-man list for the award which included the Dede Ayew, Didier Drogba, Alex Song, Yaya Toure and Demba Ba.

But the continent?s football governing body has pruned the number to three. The three are; Ivorians ? Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba, and the other is Cameroonian Alex Song.

The winner will be announced later this month on December 20, 2102 at an Awards Gala in Accra, Ghana.
