BAGHDAD — Unidentifed gunmen kidnapped 26 Qatari citizens who were on a hunting trip in the desert in Iraq’s southern Muthanna province, local media reported on Wednesday.

“Gunmen in 25 four-wheel drive vehicles late on Tuesday night stormed a camp of Qatari hunters deep in Smawa desert, which is part of Muthanna province, and kidnapped some 26 Qatari citizens,” NINA news agency quoted the provincial governor, Falih Abdul Hassan Sukar, as saying.

RAMADI, Iraq — A total of 17 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed Wednesday in armed clashes and air raids Iraq’s largest province of Anbar, a provincial security source said.

ANKARA — Four Turkish soldiers were slightly wounded Wednesday in an attack by Islamic State (IS) fighters against a Sunni military training camp in the Bashiqa region of northern Iraq, Turkish military said in a written statement.

RABAT — A UN official said on Wednesday that Libyan conflicting parties will sign a UN-brokered deal Thursday in Morocco.

The signing of the Libyan Political Agreement is due to take place on Thursday, as agreed to by the Libyan political dialogue and as welcomed by the United Nations Security Council and by the ministerial meeting in Rome on Dec. 13, said Martin Kobler, head of UN Support Mission in Libya.
