Tanzania will host the African netball championship from May 8-18 in Dar es Salaam.

Rose Mkisi, assistant secretary-general of the Tanzania Netball Association (Chaneta), said yesterday that the African netball body had allowed them to host the continental event.

She said the tournament will attract 50 national teams.

Rose said the superior body had allowed them to host the event after being satisfied with the standard of the National Stadium when Tanzania hosted the event in 2009.

She said Chaneta had already started to prepare for the event which will run for 10 days.

She said 30 players who will form the team would be named next week with 20 coming from the Mainland and 10 from Zanzibar.
