Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the donation, Ms Gyimah, who was accompanied by other students, said the donation was to help the vulnerable and less privilege in society as part of activities marking her birthday celebration.

She called on other individuals and benevolent organisations to go to the aid of the orphanage.

“Your candle loses nothing trying to light up another candle, and so once in a while, we should all learn to help the needy; and this is a social responsibility.

“As a society we need to be mindful of our responsibility to provide for orphans and vulnerable children, a place of love, hope and a sense of belonging within the Christian family environment,” Ms Gyimah said.

She said the SRC Women’s Commission under her leadership would organise a number of seminars and as well embark on peace campaign projects ahead of Ghana’s general election.

She observed that the Commission would climax its activities for the second quarter, with a beauty pageant where one person would emerge as an Ambassador for Women’s Economic Empowerment to empower other women to be economically dependent.

Ms Barikisu Iddrisu, one of the mothers at the orphanage, who received the items on behalf of Management, expressed gratitude to Ms Gyimah for putting smiles on the faces of the kids.
